I am finding the information and resources that I need to
meet my GAME goals regarding technology by collaborating with colleagues and
participating in blogs appropriate to my goals and type of project.
I have engaged in online research utilizing sites such as
Edutopia and other project-based learning websites.
I have begun gathering and analyzing pertinent data and
asking questions relevant to my GAME plan and project.
I have created preliminary charts, checklists, and rubrics and
continue to review and revise.
I have adjusted my action plan by determining what is
initially working and what needs to be changed.
What I have learned so far includes the need for specific
yet modifiable formative assessments throughout the step by step project
process.
Questions that have arisen pertain to whether or not all
accommodations and modifications have been considered to meet the needs of all
students, along with sufficient rules and procedures regarding technology.

ReplyDeleteHope if I can make a suggestion, when I first started working at my current school my classes were heavily loaded with students with IEP's. When facing all of these different accommodations for each student it was impossible to remember which students got extra time, resource room help on tests, shortened assignments, manipulatives, music, calculators, readers, or any of the other accommodations I forget to list. So I made a habit of creating a list of special needs students and a grid for the accommodations that I simply put an "X" into the box for each accommodation the student receives. This list helps me to remember who gets what and also prompts me to ask them if they want to use the accommodation. More and more my students do not use accommodations but I try to always ask if they have need of the accommodation. I hope a list and grid would be useful to you.

Hope,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you have made good progress in researching and reaching out to your professional community to help you carry out and monitor your GAME plan.
I find checklists are an invaluable tool to help me keep track of things. I like Doug's idea of an IEP checklist because I also teach so many students with many different IEP modifications.
Assessing throughout the GAME plan ensures that we pay attention to what is working and what needs to be modified for the next round. Asking students opinions on the process sometimes gives us the honest answers we need to change something for better understanding.

Hope-
ReplyDeleteIt sure sounds like you have a nice checklist to go by to ensure you cover everything you need to. Like you I find one of the details that requires the most follow through is ensuring you are reaching all students. Good luck moving forward, sounds like you are off to a great start.
